FM Derana to commence transmissions on Mar 29th 2009

FM Derana Sri Lanka's latest FM Radio channel and sister channel of TV Derana will commence transmission on March 29th 2009 at 8:30pm. The event will be carried live on Derana TV.

We at TV Radio Sri Lanka wish the new channel all the best as they commence transmissions on saturday night.

"Cinemax" to become "Max"

English movie channel Cinemax a sister channel of HBO will be relaunching as Max from Mar 29th 2009. The channel is expected to sport a whole new look with some premiere's expected.

This channel is available in Sri Lanka on Dialog TV & LBN.

Survivor Toocantins premieres today on Zee Cafe

Zee Cafe will be premiering the 18th season of hit reality show Survivor call "Survivor : Tocantins". This popular television series which was initially telecast on AXN and was dropped is now gaining massive popularity on Zee Cafe ever since Zee Cafe started telecasting the series from 2007.

This series is very popular in Sri Lanka among the English speaking public and local viewers are very much thankful to Zee Cafe for telecasting this television show.

The season is expected to kickoff tonight (March 4th 2009) at 9pm. This series premiered in the US on Feb 7th 2009.

ABC gets new frequencies

Radio network ABC has been allocated new frequencies according to reliable sources. Accordingly they have commenced broadcasting to the North & East using one of these frequencies. It is not clear whether these include frequencies for Sun & Sha FM. However with elections around the corner anything is possible. The gap left by specially Sun FM has not been filled by any other station.

New Channel vanishes

The new television channel that we reported to have been carrying out test transmissions using DD News has been off air for over a week now. This channel carried out a very low powered test transmission as it was barely visible even inside colombo. Please keep us updated on the latest on this channel as and when information becomes available.
