Discovery Travel & Living, Hallmark Channel to be rebranded

Discovery Travel & Living the lifestyle channel of Discovery Networks will be rebranded as "TLC " commencing September 1st 2010. "TLC" which stood for "The Learning Channel" earlier has moved away from its initial concept and positioned itself as a lifestyle channel. This is part of a global initiative by Discovery Networks to roll out TLC globally.

Hallmark Channel will be rebranded as "DIVA Universal" on 19th September 2010. The channel will be introducing a wide range of new programmes such as "Top Chef" & will be introducing new season of programmes such "The Biggest Looser Asia". With it's launch DIVA Universal will be the first Universal brand channel to be available in Sri Lanka.

Ten Sports to launch Ten Cricket, a Golf & football channel on the way

Ten Cricket is to launch on Aug 10, 2010. This is the second Ten branded channel in the region. Zee Television which owns a major share in Ten Sports is planning to launch a Golf & Zee Sports rebrand as a football channel.

So Ten is ramping up its presence in this region. Sadly local pay television operators Dialog TV, PEO TV, LBN are very slow in adding new channels. Let's see who adds the channel first and increases their lead or narrows the gap with the leader.

ABC gets new frequencies.. Sun & Sha FM to return???

ABC Radio has been able to get some new frequencies in their bag. Out of all this there are two notable ones in Colombo. We are not sure but it looks like the new ones are for Sun FM and Sha FM.

Rumours flying on our blog and other forums suggest that this could be the case, however we cannot be certain.
